Steve Jones Says Simon Cowell Left Him High and Dry after X Factor Axe

Remember Steve Jones? Simon Cowell dropped him as the host of X Factor USA after the first Season. He was replaced with Khloe Kardashian and Mario Lopez for the season 2. Now, the host says Simon Cowell left him “high and dry” after he axed him.

While Steve was rather stiff and ill-prepared for handling meltdowns and surprise eliminations, Khloe was ill-prepared for just about everything.  The host situation didn’t sort itself out until Mario took over solo for the third season. But that time, you could stick a fork in X Factor USA. It was done.

At the time, Simon made some noise that he was willing to work with Steve again on another project, but that was not meant to be. Steve told The Sun:  “I don’t have a relationship with Cowell. Once you stop working with him, that’s it.

What’s more, the host said he “didn’t have much of a relationship with Simon when I was working with him. It would have been easier to be bitter about it, but it’s not who I am. I handled myself with grace.” He added: “In TV things come and go and, when it went, I was left high and dry. It’s a case of, ‘be careful what you wish for’.”

Steve has no regrets about giving the US market a try, but he suggested that he’s happier working at home, in the UK. His X Factor USA experience wasn’t a complete loss, however. Steve met his wife Phylicia Jackson while hosting the show.

In case you forgot, here’s Steve having what appears to be an internal freakout as tween Rachel Crow has a meltdown after she’s eliminated.
