After last night’s X Factor premiere in Los Angeles, Lyndsey Parker of Yahoo Music interviewed Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger.
Of course, the best bites came from Simon. While Idol has not produced a girl winner since Jordin Sparks in Season 6, Simon is 100% confident that a gal could win X Factor. “Right now I’ve got my money on a girl winning the show, ” says Simon, “because I’ve seen the talent.”
Funny, X Factor UK has only had 2 male winners in 7 seasons. The last female to take the crown was Alexandra Burke in Season 5. But knowing Simon, he’ll lay on the heavy manipulation to get what he wants–the anti-Idol winner.
Contestants better watch their backs. Simon says he loves filming them when they aren’t aware of the cameras. Sneaky.
On Idol becoming too nice, Simon says, “I think they made their minds up to do a very different show when I left, ” he says. “It was a good thing because it really made the difference between their show and X Factor. There is a market for both shows right now.”
Paula does her Paula-babble, and seems very happy to be back with Simon. She’s got to be so grateful to have a second chance. Nicole manages to out flake Paula. Seriously. She was so bland when she judged on the Sing-Off, I don’t understand why she’s on the panel.
