Simon Cowell and Demi Lovato Confirm Her X Factor Departure, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson on the Panel?

After tonight’s X Factor Final performance show, in backstage interviews, both Demi Lovato and Simon Cowell confirmed Demi’s departure from the show after the current season.

“Yeah, I think that was always the plan, to be honest with you,” Cowell said after Wednesday night’s show of Lovato’s exit from the show as a mentor after this season.

Cowell insisted to Entertainment Tonight that the move was mapped out from the very beginning.

“It was two seasons, and we’ve had great fun, but she has to tour next year. We’ve had fun working together,” said the music magnate, who said he didn’t have a replacement lined up yet but had “some thoughts” about whom he might ask to fill Lovato’s chair on the panel.

Nah. It has nothing to do with the fact that she failed to send contestants to the finals either year she mentored. Or that X Factor is dropping so low in the ratings, it’s barely worth her time.

In an interview with Access Hollywood, Demi confirms her departure and says, “I did some thinking and I feel like a started out as a musician, and that’s why I was on the show.” She continues, “I have a lot of music this year, and I can’t do it at the same time.”

Simon Cowell Clears Up Any Speculation Via Twitter

To avoid speculation. Because of her tour next year it was unlikely she could do that and X factor. — Simon Cowell (@SimonCowell) December 19, 2013

She and I have had our ups and downs but now consider her a true friend. The door will always be open. And thank you Demi. Simon.x

In a recent interview with reporters, Simon revealed that he may not return to X Factor as a judge next year, opting for a different type of role, that he would not divulge. Also, he hinted there would be another shake up on the judges panel.

So, who would he get to replace departing judges? Simon told Mashable, “I would pick Paula and Randy from American Idol — they were my favorite judges because we had an incredible time together,” Simon said. “It was never planned to be what it became, and it was really special.” The last spot would be reserved for someone “really fun to watch.” “I recently met Miley Cyrus, and I really liked her,” Simon said. “She has an opinion for sure.” Oh boy.

Also, Simon told TV Guide that there’s a certain someone whose schedule just opened up, “There is somebody in mind who we’ve wanted for a while for this show that has suddenly become available,” Cowell teased. “I’m definitely not going to tell you, but he’s larger than life and would be spectacular.”

Well, first FOX has to renew the show for another season. Simon is telling reporters X Factor will be back for a 4th season. But I’ll believe it when FOX makes it official.
