The good news is that the a’cappella singing competition, The Sing-Off, is returing to NBC next holiday season. The bad news is that, Sara Bareilles will not be returning to the judges table.
The Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter wants to “focus on her music,” a source close to Sara told Entertainment Weekly.
She replaced original Sing-Off judge Nicole Scherzinger for the show’s third season, and was a wonderful addition to the panel when she joined fellow judges Shawn Stockman and Ben Folds. As an alum of her college’s a’cappella group. she brought experience to the proceedings.
Hopefully, Ben and Shawn are set to return. But, with The Voice honcho, Mark Burnett, taking over producer duties, anything could happen. He might decide to hire bigger celebrities. I hope whomever ends up on the panel doesn’t mind spinning chairs…
