With 85% of reports in, the Foo Fighters will easily coast to their second number one album. Also debuting this week are K-Pop social media darlings, BTS. I’m seriously side-eyeing the Billboard “Social” chart which has seen these guys dominating the top of the chart for months. Maybe people like talking about them, but they doesn’t seem to be turning into purchases or streams. Prophets of Rage (rap rock) and Nothing More (rock/metal) also notch top 10 reviews in sales.
The Superfriends are back in the top 10 of sales. This duo features Mitch Grassi and Scott Hoying from Pentatonix. They released two EPs and this is the compilation album containing the content of the other albums, a bonus track and some re-mixes. Harry Styles is back on the sales chart with his self-titled album at 40th.
Niall Horan, Camila Cabello and James Arthur are featured on “NOW 63” which is 10th in sales. A testament to how lousy sales are – you can be 10th in sales and still not make the combined chart. I can see why the industry loves streaming – disposable music one must re-buy each month (not saying the music is disposable, but they are selling it as a disposable quantity like take-up cups of coffee). Lauren Alaina is featured on Kane Brown’s album at 39th in sales and 30th combined (she is featured on his current single). Laure Jauregui is on Halsey’s album at 48th in sales and 43rd combined.
