Sales News – Week Ending 10/29/15

Season 4 American Idol Winner Carrie Underwood has the top 2 album of the week (as has been predicted all week). Her “Storyteller” album moves 164K in album sales and 179K in combined. Pentatonix, winners of the Sing-Off spend their second week at 5th on the Album sales and 9th on combined. They have a very respectable second week drop of 70% and 66% (compare that to Demi Lovato who they battled with to win top of the chart last week who had an 80% drop in album sales).

Also from the reality singing show milieu, we have American Idols on Wow Hits 2016 (Lauren Daigle and Colton Dixon) at 48 and Voice judge Blake Shelton debuting at 4th in album sales and 6th on combined with his greatest hits album. Adam Levine’s Maroon 5 band also appears at 48 on the combined chart.

The only other debut in the top 10 this week is Andrea Bocelli with his “Cinema” that features songs from the movies and includes duets with Ariana Grande, Veronica Berti and Nicole Scherzinger. Adele released a new song last week and that obviously reminded people they have not purchased her previous albums yet. “21” re-appears in the top 10 at 9th and 12th on combined while “19” is 30th and 33rd. The pre-orders for “25” were so huge, she would have had the top album of the week (both charts) if those pre-orders counted this week (250K in 5 days). She will probably dominate just about every single chart this week with the exception of Spoken Word and Emerging Artist. The woman is a force of nature. HDD thinks she might open with 2M in sales which would be a record.

The Weeknd has taken up permanent living arrangements in the top 10 and is at 6th this week. He should make friends with his neighbour Taylor Swift who isn’t leaving the top 10 anytime either (8th in sales this week). Kidz Bop keep bopping for 7th this week and Demi slides from 2nd to 10th.
