As we are firmly into Q4, lots of new music for us. The top 6 albums on the sales chart are all debut. Green Day rocks it out for number one on both sales and combined, followed by OneRepublic and Norah Jones. Alter Bridge (Alt Rock) is 4th with Phantogram (Dream Pop Duo) 5th. Phish, the Jam bankers with great concert numbers, are 5th with a studio album. Also debuting in the top 10 in sales is K-Pop boy-band BTS at 9th. Combined charts see Solange at 4th and Drake at 5th.
We find reality competition singers on Now 59 (Fifth Harmony) at 8th/18th, Ripcord (Carrie Underwood) at 26th/30th and WOW Hits 2017 (Danny Gokey, Lauren Daigle and Colton Dixon) at 50th/42nd.
Niall Horan’s “This Town” is 49th on the building streaming chart for the week. The usual suspects are in the top 10, with Bruno Mars adding “24K Magic” (a largely derivative song that brings little new to the table – I get trying to bridge singles, but this one sounds like a less good “Uptown Funk”. I expected more).
