David Bowie is headed for his first number one on the Billboard 200 charts. “Backstar” was released days before his death and the outpouring of sadness has helped to boost sales as happens when any famous musical artist dies. It’s a way to process and mourn. He lands two albums in the top 5 with his “Best of Bowie” at 4th bookending Adele and Bieber 1 and 2. Adele has her run of weeks at number one since release broken, but she does land two albums in the top 10 of sales with “21” at 6th.
Chris Stapleton continues to impress as he stays in the top 5, Bryson Tiller (singer/songwriter/rapper) moves up into the top 10 at 7th, our good friend Taylor Swift is 8th, The Weeknd is never going to end at 9th and a douchebag is 10th.
From our reality singing show competitors, we have X-Factor’s One Direction at 14th, Idol’s Carrie Underwood at 24, The Voice’s latest winner Jordan Smith at 25th and The Sing-Off’s Pentatonix at 33rd (4 shows representing!). Idol’s Nick Fradiani also has a track on the Now 56th album currently at 13th.
