RUMOR: Scotty McCreery Has Recorded A Christmas Album, Including A Justin Bieber Track! (UPDATE)

Scotty McCreery has started work on his sophomore album, but it looks like he may be recording some Christmas music too! Find out which Justin Bieber song he has reportedly cut, after the jump!

UPDATE: Scotty CONFIRMS he is in the studio recording Christmas songs with this tweet and picture (now our feature picture)!

well its still 90 some degrees outside, but its Christmas in July here in the studio…..

Alert Scotty fans picked up immediately when Nashville musician/singer/songwriter Nick Autry tweeted:

@scottymccreery wraps up a Christmas record so they felt the need to bring the decorations and gear to my office http://instagr.am/p/Ni23mUHrVX/

Autry deleted that tweet after getting some excited replies from Scotty fans, but it fits with another interesting tidbit of information: Scotty is currently listed as a performer of “All I Want Is You”, written by Justin Bieber and Brandon Hamilton. This is a song on Justin’s 2011 Christmas album Under The Mistletoe.

Here is Justin’s version of the song. Can you hear Scotty’s deeper, non-melismatic voice on the song, and can you imagine it being countrified?

Being listed by a publisher as a performer of a song isn’t a guarantee it will be released on an album or EP. But, it may be a smart idea for Scotty, who is only about 5 months older than the Biebs, to get the notice of some Beliebers as he tries to solidify his fanbase for his sophomore album. And, it might be a nice move for the Biebs to pick up some cred by co-writing a song cut by Scotty.

Last year, Scotty performed a nice version of “The First Noel” on the CMA Country Christmas special. Could that be another song we can look forward to hearing from him as a studio cut?

With his current single “Water Tower Town” treading water on the country charts (it did just make Billboard t40 in its 15th week, and has a solid chance of making Mediabase t40 next week), it would make sense for Scotty to be hard at work on new music. Christmas music may be a good way for Scotty to keep his fanbase engaged during the holiday season as they await his sophomore album, which Scotty has said is likely to come out next year. Do you think a Christmas album or EP would be a good move for him?
