Rickey Minor and his band will be leaving American Idol at the end of Season 9 to join the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Rickey will be taking the place of current band leader, Kevin Eubanks who recently announced he’s moving on.
Rickey dropped by Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS FM radio show today to dish all the details on his brand new job. Watch the video after the jump.

Rickey is responsible for the Idols singing with a live band instead of shitty backing tracks when he came on board Season 4. He gave the show a polish and professionalism it previously lacked.
Those are gonna be some big shoes to fill…
