Ratings News Week 16

This week’s Top 6 results show saw another week of huge voting totals–65 million votes–made possible at least in part by a 4-hour voting voting window.

Ratings continue to be lower in comparison to Season 5.   However, ratings are down for popular shows  across the board.

Tuesday’s ratings:

“Idol, ” which featured the final six contestants perform, averaged 25.8 million viewers and a 9.7 rating/28 share among adults 18-49 at 8 p.m., according to preliminary Nielsen estimates.

The ratings dropped 10% from last season’s comparable show–the Top 5 performance show, which  averaged 28.6 million viewers and a 11.4/31.

Wednesday’s ratings:

“Idol” was the night’s top show in viewership (28.1 million) and adults 18-49 (10.8 rating/27 share), according to preliminary estimates released Thursday by Nielsen Media Research. Nothing else was even close on the broadcast networks.

There was a 4% drop between last year’s Top 5 results show, which averaged  29.2 million viewers and a 11.7 rating/28 share and this year’s Top 6 results show.
