What a way to kick off a new album era–playing a really really bad guy on a police procedural.
On the day Phillip Phillips released his third studio album (Jan 19), the American Idol season 11 winner appeared on the CBS police procedural, Hawaii 5-0.
Phillip plays a criminal named Voss who creates all kinds of mayhem before he’s brought to justice by the good guys. How bad is the character he plays? He digs up dead bodies in the cemetery (and much much worse), meneces a middle aged housewife, and basically goes to any lengths to pull off a heist.
He’s bad to the bone ya’ll. But crime, as usual on TV cop shows, DOESN’T PAY! For those who DVR’d I won’t spoil it for you. It was a small part–but I gotta say Phillip was a pretty convincing evil doer. Shooting the scenes must have been a blast.

Phillip has appeared on series television bere. He played himself in a now-cancelled drama, Pure Genius. However, the Hawaii 5-O appearance marks the first time the singer has played a fictional character. And unlike many singers who try acting, he isn’t playing a fictionalized version of himself.
As far as that new album is concerned, Collateral is available everywhere now.

Phillip dropped by Fox and Friends on Friday morning to play a couple of songs. Before he performed “Into the Wild” he chatted about how he met his wife, Hannah Blackwell, his upcoming tour and more.
