Paula Abdul Welcome To Guest Judge So You Think You Can Dance

If Paula Abdul’s contract negotiations don’t work out with American Idol, Nigel Lythgoe would be happy to hire her!

“We would certainly consider [Abdul as] a guest judge, ” said Nigel told the Daily News Tuesday, “Without question.”

Here’s what Nigel thinks is going on behind closed doors right now:

“I’d never been involved in negotiations when I was with the show, but having spoken with [Fox president of alternative programming] Mike Darnell, I know Fox wants to keep Paula, ” said Lythgoe. “The figures that have been quoted for Simon [Cowell] and Ryan [Seacrest] are great figures. I don’t know if they’re true, but Paula seeing those figures would make her pretty upset.”

“They will talk and try to iron things out, and if they don’t come to an agreement, then Paula will move on.”

And here’s the million dollar quote:

“At the end of the day, that program is bigger than any individual. Even Simon.”

I so agree.

I don’t have a problem believing Nigel would invite Paula to be a guest judge on SYTYCD.   He’s been badgering her on twitter to choreograph a piece for the show, so why not guest judge a couple of shows? It would be interesting to hear her critiques on dance. She might actually be more astute and critical, judging a discipline she supposedly is a real expert on.

In So You Think You Can Dance news, the show celebrates its 100th episode on Thursday with a star-studded (well, one semi-star by marriage) extravaganza featuring a Tyce DiOrio Judy Garland tribute performed by Katie Holmes.

Plus, past contestants will return to perform Emmy-winning performances: Wade Robson will perform his own ‘Ramalama (Bang Bang)” routine. Jaimie Goodwin and Hok Konishi perform Robson’s ‘The Hummingbird and the Flower” and Travis Wall and Heidi Groskreutz-Burns perform Mia Michaels’ ‘The Bench’ .
