Oscars 2014 Winners List, Live Blog, VIDEOS

The 86th Annual Academy Awards air live tonight on ABC beginning at 8:30ET/5:30PT! Ellen DeGeneres hosts. We’ll be live blogging the event right here! Stay tuned.

Live from the Dolby theater in Hollywood!  Ellen’s got her 80’s power bow going! She hosted 7 years ago and is honored “they’ve asked me back so quickly.” She jokes that a bunch of the same actors from 7 years ago are nominated tonight. She introduces some of the 1st time nominees in the audience.

The real Captain Phillips and the real Philomena are in the audience.  Ellen congratulates the Liza Minnelli impersonator in the audience. Uh, it’s actually Liza and she looks like a plastic surgery disaster. OUCH.

Between all of the nominees, they’s starred in over 1400 movies and attended 6 years of college. Hardee har har. Meryl Streep has been nominated for an Oscar 18 times. Ellen promises not to bring up Jennifer Lawrences “thing” last year, then describes how she tripped up the steps. And supposedly she tripped on an orange cone. Ellen suggests someone take the Oscar out to her if she wins.

Ellen declared Jared Leto the prettiest. What is up with that hair?  Aw. Bruce Dern and his daughter Laura are in the audience.  To Jonah Hill, nominated for Wolf of Wall street: “You showed us something in that film I haven’t seen in a very long time.” Hm.

Ellen DeGeneres – Opens The Oscars 2014 by IdolxMuzic

EVERYONE’S FAVORITE (Not) Anne Hathaway takes the stage to present Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role.   Might as well get the annoying out of the way first. The Oscar goes to Jared Leto for Dallas Buyers Club.  He’s proud to share his journey with fellow nominees.  He nominates the award, to his single mom, “I love you mom, thank you for teaching me to dream.” His brother, sitting next to mom, gives her a big kiss. Jared thanks him. He shouts out to people across the world who are struggling to be free.  When are they gonna play him off? He also dedicates the award to those who have lost their battle to aids, and those who suffer because of “who they love.”

Jim Carrey is next. He calls Bruce Dern one of his heroes.  He whips out his Dern impersonation “Kind of tough being on the other side of that isn’t! Kind of intense,” he says.  Then he begins talking about the magic of LSK. Er he means, Animation! He introduces a montage of animated heroes.  Ellen notes that it’s short on Finding Nemo.

Ellen introduces a VERY pregnant, Kerry Washington. She introduces Pharell Williams who IS WEARING THE HAT OF COURSE and sings “Happy” from Despicable Me 2.  Ha. He surfs the audience. He’s boogieing with Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock! Back on stage, he’s joined by some very HAPPY DANCERS.  He’ll never be able not to wear that damn hat.

“NO. No I don’t want to see it,” says Ellen, standing next to Jonah Hill. Ha.

Naomi Watts and Samuel L. Jackson presents Achievement in Costume Design. And the Oscar goes to Catherine Martin for  The Great Gatsby. She won previously for Moulin Rouge.  She’s married to Baz Luhrmann!  Achievement for Makeup and Hairstyling goes to Dallas Buyers Club.

Harrison Ford takes the stage next. He introduces Best Picture nominees American Hustle, Dallas Buyers Club and Wolf of Wall Street.  Clips are next!

Channing Tatum takes the stage to talk about a shorts contest. He introduces the college students who were part of the competition.

So far. This is pretty boring. Could something ridiculous or awful happen? I can’t handle it.

Ellen’s shtick is interacting with the stars in the audience going in and out of commercial. To be perfectly honest I have always found Ellen’s humor a little. Dull.

Kim Novak and Matthew McConaughey   ake the stage.  Kim Novak has cigarrette voice to the nth degree. She’s so happy to be here. It’s like they took her out of mothballs to present to the public. The two present Best Animated Short to Mr. Hublot.  Best Animated Feature goes to Frozen.

Sally Field in the house!  How does she manage to remain so adorable, despite being close to 70? She introduces a montage of movies about real life heroes.  She was Norma Rae, remember?

Emma Watson and Joseph Gordon Levitt take the stage next. The present the award for Achievement in Special Effects to Gravity.

Zach Efron introduces the divine Karen O to sing “The Moon Song” from Her.

Ellen, holding an acoustic guitar, introduces Kate Hudson and Jason Sudeikis. They present the award for Live Action Short to  Helium. Best Documentary Short Subject goes to The Lady in Number 6. Not surprised. Any film about the Holocaust will take the award.  The woman who is the subject of the film died at 110 last week.

Ellen, walking around the audience, saying Hi to the celebs. WASTING TIME THIS IS SO BORING. Ellen wants to order pizza.

Bradley Cooper presents Best Documentary Feature to 20 Feet From Stardom! The Voice alum, Judith Hill, was featured! Miss Darlene Love is on stage with the producers. She belts out a few notes of “Eye on the Sparrow”.

Two time Oscar winner, Kevin Spacey takes the stage. He lapses into his House of Cards character. He name checks the Governor Award winners, Angela Lansbury, Steve Martin and a costume designer, Piero Tosi.  Angelina Jolie won a Humanitarian Award.

Ewan McGregor and Viola Davis take the stage to present Best Foreign Language Film to The Great Beauty, from Italy.

Tyler Perry takes the stage he presents Oscar nominees, Nebraska, Her and Gravity It’s time for some clips!

Ellen has changed into a white suit. The crowd offers an anemic whoop.  She introduces Brad Pitt, who introduces U2 to perform “Ordinary Love” from Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. STANDING OVATION.

She takes a selfie with Liza in the audience. She wants to break another record with Meryl.  She takes a photo with a bunch of movie stars. The goal is to break the twitter re-tweet record.

Kristen Bell and Michael B. Jordan introduce the highlights of the Oscar Science and Technical awards. They really are trying to convince us to nap. Zzzz.

Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron present Achievement in Sound Mixing to Gravity. Achievement in Sound Editing also goes to Gravity.

Christoph Waltz takes the stage takes the stage to present Performance by an actress in a supporting role to Lupita Nyong’o for 12 Years a Slave. Aw. She’s very tearful accepting this award. She thanks director Steve McQueen “It has been the joy of my life.”  She hopes that every child who looks down at that statue remembers “No matter where you’re from, your dreams are valid.”

Back from break. The pizza has arrived. Ellen passes it out to the celebs. Brad Pitt helps! Kerry Washington is pregnant. She needs some! says Ellen. Don’t forget Harrison Ford. She borrows money from Harvey Weinstein to tip the pizza guy.

The first black woman to be president of the Academy of Arts and Sciences, Cheryl Boone Isaacs, comes out to deliver a boring speech. But good for her, right?

Amy Adams and Bill Murray take the stage. “Baby, you look like 140 million domestic!” quips Bill. The present Achievement in Cinematography to  Gravity.

OH WE FORGOT ONE. Says Bill Murray. Harold Ramis. RIP. Love the way he slipped in that little tribute.

Anna Kendrick and Gabourey Sidibe present Achievement in Editing to Gravity–which is cleaning up in the technical awards!

Whoopi Goldberg takes the stage to talk Wizard of Oz. Remember when it was on TV once a year? Whoopi’s got on her Ruby Slippers.  Judy Garland had received a special juvenile Oscar in 1939 for her role. Joey Luft,  Lorna Luft and Liza Minelli are in the audience to help celebrate The Wizard of Ozz. Whoopi introduces Alecia Moore. Oh that’s what she calls her when she’s hanging around her house. It’s PINK!  OMG she’s singing “Over The Rainbow” complete with the little performed intro.  This is amazing.  She’s wearing a beautiful red gown while clips from the movie play behind her.  THAT WAS EFFING EVERYTHING. SHOW THEM HOW IT’S DONE PINK.  Brilliant. Standing ovation.

Ellen takes the stage dressed as the Good Witch. Yes, she looks ridiculous.

Jennifer Garner and Benedict Cumberbatch (SQUEEEEEEEEE. Ahem) present Achievement in Production Design to The Great Gatsby.

Chris Evans continues the cinematic tribute to heroes. I’m not really sure where this is going.

Glenn Close presents the “In Memoriam” montage. Goodby Joan Fontaine, Peter O’Toole, Paul Walker, Sid Ceasar, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Harold Ramis. After the clip runs, Bette Midler sings “Wind Beneath My Wings.” Bette sounded great! Standing ovation for her, too.

So, that photo Ellen took earlier crashed twitter and did break a record for most retweets.

Goldie Hawn introduces Philomena, Captain Phillips and 12 Years a Slave. Time for some clips!

John Travolta introduces Idina Menzel who sings “Let it Go” from “Frozen”. WHAT DID HE CALL HER? Adele Menzeem or something? He had no idea how to pronounce her name. Ellen made sure to thank Idina, by name, twice.

Jamie Foxx and Jessica Biel present Original Score to Steven Price for Gravity. Original Song goes to “Let it Go” from Frozen. The songwriters thank you speech rhymed and was adorable. They are married couple, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.

Now, Ellen is taking a collection from the celebrities for the pizza. Seriously. There’s NO need for filler at this point.

Robert De Niro and Penelope Cruz who present Best Adapted Screenplay to John Ridley for 12 Years a Slave. Best Original Screenplay goes to Spike Jonze for Her. It’s his first Oscar!

Angelina Jolie and Sidney Poitier present Best Director. But not before Angelina heaps praise on the legendary actor. “We are very much in your debt” she says.  Sidney is having a little trouble reading the teleprompter. But that’s OK. The Oscar goes to Alfonso Cuarón for Gravity. Wow. Steve McQueen lost? Really?

Ellen jokes that the ceremony is over. Yep. Not yet.

Daniel Day Lewis presents Best Actress in a Leading Role to Cate Blanchett for Blue Jasmine.  And a tweet from Ronan Farrow in 3…2…1.  Cate thanks all of her fellow nominees first. She thanks Woody Allen. And is happy her film proves that films that have women at the center of them are not niche.

Cate Blanchett – Acceptance Speech – Oscars 2014 by IdolxMuzic

Jennifer Lawrence presents Best Actor in a Leading Role. She wants to know why people are laughing. Because we love you Jennifer! The Oscar goes to Matthew McConaughey for Dallas Buyers Club. The speech is very sweet. His hero is a better version of himself. It’s something to always chase. “Alright Alright Alright.”

Will Smith presents Best Picture to 12 Years a Slave.  Producer, Brad Pitt speaks first, but then he cedes the floor to director Steve McQueen.

12 Years a Slave – Wins Best Picture – Oscars 2014 by IdolxMuzic

AND THAT’S THE END. FINALLY OVER OMG. I thought it would never end. That was a pretty dull affair.
