After it was confirmed by reliable tumblr spoilers that Naya Rivera had been written out of the Glee finale, we confirmed that the actress was fired from Glee after an onset incident with co-star, Lea Michele.

In the few days since we ran our report, the mainstream press has picked up the story, adding their own spin. Also, finally, Naya Rivera’s rep has made a statement.

E Online sources insist that whatever prompted Naya to be written out of the finale had NOTHING to do with Lea. What’s more, in a statement released by Naya Rivera’s rep, “Any reports or rumors circulating that Naya Rivera was let go or fired from Glee are absolutely untrue. End of story.”

A source tells The Hollywood Reporter that reports claiming that Naya cleaned out her locker and won’t be returning, have been “misrepresented,” as she is officially on hiatus. Well, not so fast. My source insists that Naya is, indeed, gone from Glee–that her number was taken off of her trailer the night of the incident. That’s a pretty abrupt way to begin a hiatus! Also, producer Brad Falchuk tweeted about a finale trio performance  that included Naya, Heather Morris and Amber Riley, just hours before Naya was let go.

(For those of you catching up: On April 15, Lea Michele returned to set after a “tweet along” during the east coast airing of Glee. Reportedly there was an incident that resulted in Naya’s dismissal).

You can call it what you’d like. Fired may not be technically the correct word. You could say that Naya was written out of an episode. She’s under contract. You’ll still see her name in the credits whether she’s in the episode or not. But I’m still hearing that Naya was planning NOT to return as a Glee regular for Season 6 in any case.

Of course, none of this means Naya will never step foot on the Paramount lot again. In a few months, ruffled feathers could be smoothed over, and Naya could return, as a guest star perhaps, to play Santana Lopez once again.
