MTV Reality Star, Diem Brown, Dead at 32

MTV Reality star, Diem Brown, has lost her battle with cancer at age 32.

Brown was first diagnosed with Ovarian cancer at age 23, and then faced the disease again in 2012. The Real World/Road Rules challenge star died at 10:22 a.m. Friday in New York City. People magazine reports that she was surrounded by friends and family at her bedside at a New York City hospital this week as her condition deteriorated.

In August, she told People she had beat cancer a second time. But then, a few weeks later, after experiencing crippling stomach pains on the set of a new reality show she was shooting, came the news that cancer had been found in her stomach and colon, after which she had two emergency surgeries, including a full hysterectomy. In October, she learned the disease had spread to her liver and lymph nodes.

Brown blogged her battle for People. In this post, she shares her feelings about losing her hair to chemo. And here, she describes a near death experience after one of her emergency surgeries.

“That was a shocker to me,” she said to People. “I was blown away. It really crushed a little bit of my spirit.”

“I want people to know that the fight is worth it,” she told People in October. “And that’s something that’s so important for me.”
