Monday Morning Mediabase Update: March 7-13

Eight milestones this week including a number one and 3 triple milestones.

Carrie Underwood, after waiting for two weeks at number two, ascends to the top of the Country chart with “Heartbeat”. Carrie is currently touring to sold out venues across the states in support of her fifth studio album “Storyteller”. It was back in 2006 when Carrie Underwood first topped Billboard’s Hot Country Song chart with “Jesus, Take the Wheel”. She has had 14 songs top that chart (which now includes sales).

Also from Idol is Kelly Clarkson who recently performed “Piece by Piece” on the show. The performance resurrected the song which hit three milestones this week: top 30 on HAC (and very nearly top 20), top 20 on AC and top 50 on Pop.

We have another rare three milestones in one week from X-Factor’s Fifth Harmony. Their debut single from their upcoming album soared on the social media and download charts and is now taking on the airplay charts. “Work from Home” went top 20 on Pop, top 30 on Rhythmic and debuted on the HAC chart.

The only male representing this week is Idol’s Colton Dixon who went top 30 on CAC with “Limitless”. The song is also doing well on Billboards Christian HAC/Pop chart, but Mediabase does not have an equivalent chart for that.

Finally, One Direction’s “Drag Me Down” returned to the top 30 on AC.

Billboard confirms that Kendrick Lamar surprise “Untitled” album tops the charts this week with 178K in equivalent and 142K in pure album sales. It was less than a year ago that he released “To Pimp a Butterfly (March 16th, 2015) which opened with 363K and 324K respectively. Adele is second and Bieber remains in the top 5 for his 17th week.
