Monday Morning Mediabase Update: Oct 1-7

This week, the milestones are all from the foreign singing competitions. Three from Canada and three from the UK.

Let’s start with the Canadian milestones since it is their Thanksgiving today. The milestones all come from Carly Rae Jepsen who finished third in the fifth Season of the Canadian Idol franchise. Her collaboration with Owl City went top 5 on Pop, top 20 on HAC and top 30 on AC this week.

On the other side of the Atlantic, One Direction, who finished third on the seventh season of the original X-Factor in the UK, went top 20 on Pop and top 50 on HAC. “Live Like We’re Young” is their lead off single to their second album of 2012 and is an interesting counterpoint to Ke$ha’s new single “Die Young”. Shall we live or die young?

Finishing right behind One Direction that season on XF is Cher Lloyd. Her latest single is called “Oath” and it debuted this week in the top 50 on Pop.
