Monday Morning Mediabase Update: May 16-22

Four Milestones to celebrate this Victoria Day morning (any excuse for a stat works for me).

Fifth Harmony earns their first number one on the Pop charts with “Work from Home” (featuring Ty Dolla $ign). They have had some success on radio and been popular on social media for quite some time. But this song is taking them to new heights. “Work from Home” is currently charting on four formats. Two weeks ago, it topped they Rhythmic charts, it is in the top 30 on HAC and it debuted this week on the Urban chart in the top 40.

Also from X-Factor (UK franchise), Zayn continues to rack up new milestones with “Pillowtalk”. This week, the song went top 15 on HAC. The song is also charting in 4 formats. It had previously topped the chart format, is top 15 in HAC and Rhythmic and in the top 50 on AC. His former band won a Billboard award last night for Top Duo/Group.

Also winning a Billboard award was Lauren Daigle (Top Christian Album). She continues to top the CAC chart with “Trust Yourself”. She has lost her bullet though, so it may give Danny Gokey a chance to top the chart next week (he’s been holding at 2nd for weeks).

I neglected to note last week that the original Voice winner Javier Colon entered the AC chart with “Gravity”. The latest winner, Jordan Smith returned to the top 30 in that format this week with “Stand in the Light”

Drake tops the BB200 for the third consecutive week with “Views” (239K/83K, -24%/-53%). This is the first album since Adele to top the chart for three weeks (“25” topped it for 7 consecutive weeks, 10 nonconsecutive weeks). Views had 186.1M streams (now owning the three biggest streaming weeks) which was up 32% for a total of 572M streams since launch. “Lemonade” is 2nd again (128K/92K, -37%/-40%) while topping the album sales chart. Number 3 is Meghan Trainor’s latest album “Thank You” (107K/84K) following “Title” (238K/195K). Pierce the Veil (Rock) is 4th (the highest they’ve ever charted and the best selling week they’ve ever had – 54K/50K). Rihanna’s “Anti” is 4th (44K, -8%), Keith Urban’s “Ripcord” is 6ht (44K, -59%) and Prince’s “The Very Best of Prince” is 7th (42K, -46%)

Chance the Rapper becomes the first act to chart on the BB200 based strictly on streaming numbers. He gives his album away for free, so they don’t count that. His “Coloring Book” was streamed 57.3M times for 38K and 9th on the chart. Kanye’s “Life of Pablo” is almost entirely based on streams (99.93%), but he sold some copies from his website. Radiohead’s “A Moon Shaped Pool” is at 9th with 34K (-81%) and Jennifer Nettles rounds out the top 10 with “Playing with Fire” (33K/31K).
