Monday Morning Mediabase Update: Mar 2-8

There are five milestones this week including 2 songs debuting on three charts and one chart topper.

Phillip Phillips storms back onto the charts with his debut single from his second album debuting on two charts. “Raging Fire” was performed on Idol last week and entered the top 40 on HAC and top 50 on AAA this week. Phil has topped both of these charts in the past. His timing is impecable. He just went recurrent on AC a few weeks ago with a song from his first album and his second album is ready to pick up where that one left off.

Also debuting this week are the “Swon Brothers”. They finished third on Season 4 of the Voice and one of the brothers also auditioned for Idol. They weren’t picked up by the Voice’s related label, but gained enough exposure to land a contract with Idol’s old label (RCA – Arista Nashville division). “Later On” is their debut single and it had a boat load of adds last week. It debuts in the top 50 on Country.

Danny Gokey, also a third place finisher (8th Season of Idol) is having success on CAC. His debut single in that format, “Hope in Front of Me”, moved into the top 40.

Finally, we have One Direction. “The Story of My Life” is their first current radio chart topper and they achieved that on HAC. The song really does seem to fit best there. It will be intersting to see what they pick as their follow-up since the song has started fading in their home format on Pop.
