First up is CAC staple, Mandisa. Her “Overcomer” is the debut single from her fourth studio album of the same name due out in August. After finishing 9th on the 5th season of American Idol, Mandisa has built up a very solid career in Christian music. So, it’s no surprise that CAC has been quick to embrace this new single and have it debut in the top 30.

Next up is UAC powerhouse, Fantasia. She frequently goes to number one in this chart, but has a little less luck on the Urban format. This time, she broke “Without Me” (featuring X-Factor judge Kelly Rowland) on Urban and it just this week crossed over onto UAC. Her debut single, also from her fourth album, is currently at number 4 on UAC and now her second is in the top 40. “Without Me” also went top 15 on Urban this week and is now charting in three formats.

Finally, we have a tie at 47th and the tie always goes to the runner-up. Jessica Sanchez was runner-up on the 11th Season of American Idol. Her single “Tonight” featuring Ne-Yo has struggled to get air play and had some luck on one of the Spanish charts. Now, after almost three months after the release date, the song has achieved top 50 on Pop. It doesn’t have a strong bullet, but acheiving this milestone might cause radio to give it a second look. Yes, I know, I’m not being all that positive, but I’m trying to be realistic here.

Meanwhile, another 2012 alumna ties Jessica at 47th. Cassadee Pope leaps onto the chart just as her show-mate Vicci falls off to keep The Voice on radio. Cassadee Pope won the third season of The Voice and Mark/Carson/NBC have pinned their hopes on her being their first success. Luckily, Country chart Jedi Scott Borchetta has joined the team and worked his usual magic to get a top 50 debut for a song that might not seem all that Country at first glance. I’m sure his plan is to get the song to do well on Country before crossing-over to the more obvious HAC format. Scott has used that for a template in the past. Nevertheless, while many Voice contestants have limped onto the charts, Cassadee has jumped on with a convincing spincrease. That and her strong first week sales (Scott: “These are not the second week numbers you are looking for”) may convince Country radio that she is the new Taylor Swift.
