Monday Morning Mediabase Update: Dec 8-14

There are five Milestones this morning to celebrate – one from Idol, to from Sing-offers and two from X-Factorers (both sides of the Atlantic).

Carrie Underwood’s “Something in the Water” achieves top 5 on Country this week. The song, like so many of Carrie’s, seems destined to hit number one. It is the debut single for her Greatest Hits album that was released last week. We should start getting sales estimates for it today.

The Sing-Off winners, Pentatonix manage a double milestone. Their “Mary Did You Know” (is it an official single, or is that just one of the ones that programmers liked?) has gone top 40 on both CAC and AC this week. There is one and half more good weeks of Christmas songs and then this will fall off the chart.

There are also double milestones on HAC…but from two different X-Factor acts. One Direction’s “Night Changes” (second single off of their fourth album “4”) goes top 50 while Bea Miller (from the US franchise) has her debut single “Young Blood” also go top 50.
