Monday Morning Mediabase Update: Aug 31-Sep 6

Just two milestones on this lazy Labour Day Monday Morning (I’m not calling Labour lazy, I’m saying I’m lazy and kind of forgot that it was Monday and it really only is the Monday morning in Hawaii now anyway).

First up is Season 4 winner, Carrie Underwood. Her “Smoke Break” is not taking any breaks up the Country chart as it now passes into the top 20 on Country. This is her debut single for her upcoming album “Storyteller” set to be in stores on October 23rd.

Then, we have Season 11 7th place finisher, Colton Dixon. Colton’s “Through All of It” previously topped the BB Christian HAC chart and it is now in the top 10 of the Christian AC chart. The song is a track off of his second album, “Anchor”. Colton is releasing three sets of music on Friday (Sept 11th). He has two EPs called “Calm” and “Storm”. “Calm” is stripped-down, acoustical remixes of songs from his first two albums while “Storm” is more high-energy remixes. “Calm Before the Storm” is a an album that contains the contents of both “Calm” and “Storm”.

Oh, and speaking of lazy, Billboard charts are delayed one day this week due to the Labour Day Holiday. You’d think they would have a computer to compile the charts, but they have to give the labels one day to whinge about them so they can re-run them several times and several press releases.
