Monday Morning Mediabase Update: Aug 29-Sep 4

As per usual, Kelly Clarkson serves notice and explodes on to the charts with the debut single from her upcoming album. “Mr. Know It All” achieved top 30, 40 and 50 milestones on three different formats (HAC, AC and Pop respectively). Her song does not go for adds until next week (and only on Pop). Not bad for a song released in the middle of the week. Her spincrease on Pop is 502, on HAC it is 494 and on AC it is 34.

Also wasting no time on making a chart impression is Mandisa. “Waiting for Tomorrow” is her second single from her fourth full-length album. The song skipped right through the 30s to 29th to make this the second top 30 song she’s had during this era on CAC.

Lauren Alaina finally makes it to top 40 with her coronation single “Like My Mother Does”. The song has been buffeted around just below top 40 on the Country charts for months. Almost making it only to be nosed out by another song or two. Billboard actually made the song recurrent at one point, but let it back on the chart after the label made a push to radio. Both Lauren and the label have stuck with this song, but will likely introduce a new single soon for the album which is due in stores October 11.

Finally, we have an appearance of Danny Gokey’s “Second Hand Heart”. Technically, it is 51st this morning, but due to a quirk in the Mediabase reporting software (essentially, he has the 49th played song on Country radio, but the Country rankings are based on some byzantine formula incorporating spins, audience impressions and some random numbers known only to a few people in the bowels of Mediabase corporate headquarters and Scott Borchetta).

Leaving us this week are Fantasia who went recurrent on UAC and Kelly Clarkson’s “Don’t You Wanna Stay” duet from HAC which also went recurrent.
