Monday Morning Mediabase Update – Apr 19-25

Bit of an odd week in the Idol radio world. There were 10 songs charting on a combined 6 charts for a total of 16 different instances. Of those 16 instances, 2 were new songs, 6 were gaining, 4 stayed in exactly the same spot and 4 dropped down the charts. One song went up in ranking despite losing spins and one song went down in ranking despite gaining spins. I don’t know, the charts seem to be churning a bit more than usual these days. Yar, Billy, there’s a storm brewing. And it’s probably just another fanwar.

The only two songs to reach a milestone this week were the two new ones. Carrie’s new single “Undo It” which goes for adds on May 24th has already reached the top 50 on Country. Over on Active, “Rock We are The Fallen (lead singer is Carly Smithson from Season 7) has their first top 40 hit with “Bury Me Alive”. Actually, this song should have joined the chart last week, but I had given up on regularly checking the Rock charts because it had been so long since an Idol had appeared there. Thanks to Pam for pointing that out.
