Monday Morning Mediabase Update – Mar 22-28

The big Idol news on the radio front this week is Carrie Underwood. She went number one on the Country chart with “Temporary Home”. This is the second single from her album “Play On” and both singles have gone to number 1 on that chart (11 of her singles have gone to #1 on Country). Carrie is definitely a country institution.

Speaking of Idol institutions, Kelly, the original recipe Idol’s new single went top 40 on Top 40 this week. There was a long delay between “Already Gone” going recurrent on this chart and this single, so lots of people thought the label had finished promoting this album which has fallen off the BB 200. I don’t know how much of a push RCA is putting into this single, but Kelly’s reputation for generating hits probably helps out the effort. “Already Gone” is still climbing on AC, though, and just went to number 3 with a bullet, so there is still lots going on with that album.

The other milestone this week is that Adam’s “Whattaya Want from Me” went top 20 in AC making the song top 20 in 3 formats.
