Monday Morning Mediabase 10/23/2017

Six milestones this week to discuss on the Monday Morning Mediabase report.

Kelly Clarkson goes top 15 this week with her debut single from her upcoming studio album. “Love So Soft” goes top 15 on AC this week and it is already top 15 on HAC and top 30 on Pop. “Meaning of Life” will be released on Friday.

Releasing an album last week was Niall Horan and he achieves a milestone this week with “Too Much To Ask”. This is the third single off of his “Flicker” album and it goes top 50 on HAC this week. The song is already top 40 on Pop and his “Slow Hands” is still top 10 on both Pop and HAC (and top 15 on AC). Hits Daily Double predicts the album will be the best debut of the week with 150-160K SPS and 120-130K in album sales. Pentatonix’s latest Christmas album is predicted to do 10-15K combined and 8-12K in sales.

Also releasing an album last week was Lindsey Stirling. Lindsey got her break on America’s Got Talent and is currently one of the front-runners on Dancing With the Stars. “Love’s Just a Feeling” went top 30 on AC this week.

Camila Cabello from the US XF series achieves top 30 on Rhythmic this week with “Havana” featuring Young Thug (who also released a mix tap this week with Future). The song is also top 20 on Pop and top 40 on HAC. This is the second single off of her upcoming debut album expected to arrive in stores during Q1 of 2018.

UK XF winners Little Mix debut another song on Pop. A remix of “Reggaeton Lento” with CNCO enters the top 50.

Circling back to Idol winners, Phillip Phillips latest debut single “Miles” achieves a top 20 on AAA. The Adult Album Alternative chart is a tough format for reality song competitors to crack (the “Alternative” leaves the program directors wary of such a mainstream enterprise), but P2 has figured out how to chart their regularly and successfully. Namely, he puts out songs that the program directors can’t say “No” to.

Finally, Zayn’s “Dusk Till Dawn” returns to the top 40 on Pop.

Taylor Swift suffers a jaw-dropping -4638 spincrease on Pop this week plummeting from number 1 to 7th.

P!nk earns her second top charting album with “Beautiful Trauma”. She has the biggest opening week by a woman this year and the 4th biggest of the year. She sells the most albums of any act in a single week in 2017 (the largest since Drake in May of 2016). Her last album sold 280K in its debut week. Like the last several chart toppers, P!nk had a concert/album bundle which only counts if the album is redeemed. They are considered internet sales and she sold 249K over the internet.
