Monday Morning Mediabase 05/15/2017

Three milestones to celebrate this week on the Monday Morning Mediabase Memo.

Jennifer Hudson, the shock boot at top 7 for Season 3 (and part of the original Huff), has arrived back on the chart. Jennifer Hudson is of course now famous for overcoming that shock boot and having a sterling career anyway featuring Grammys and an Oscar. Her latest single to chart is “Remember Me” which has debuted in the top 50 on UAC.

Niall Horan also didn’t win his competition, but his boot was a little less shocking. What is shocking is how 5 lads who were cut from the singles category went on to become the biggest financial success from any of the singing competition shows. What is further shocking is that these young men are actually producing credible hits after leaving the band. Niall Horan has double milestones this week with his second single hitting top 40 on both Pop and HAC. “Slow Hands” was actually pretty close to debuting in the top 30 on HAC.

Meanwhile, his bandmate Harry Styles is predicted to have the top selling album of the week and the highest debut of any UK male artist – becoming only the second UK male artist to debut at the top of the BB200 (the first was fellow band-mate Zayn – who returns to the top 20 on AC with “I Don’t Want to Live Forever”).
