Monday Morning Mediabase 05/07/2018

The month of May is kicked-off with 9 milestones.

Two milestones this week are from the Idol franchise and they are both on the Country format. Carrie Underwood, winner of Season 4 and next week’s mentor, achieved top 20 on Country this week with “Cry Pretty”. This is the debut single from her album to be released in September. Our last Idol winner was Trent Harmon and his “You Got ‘Em All” went top 40 on Country radio this week. It’s the title track from his album to be released on May 18th.

The American version of X-Factor has 3 milestones this week. Camila Cabello’s second single from “Camila” is called “Never be the Same”. This week, the song topped the Pop chart and it is her second single to do so. She’s much more successful as a single artist than she was with 5th Harmony. The song also achieved top 10 on Rhythmic. From the same season, Jeff Gutt did the opposite to Camila and joined a group. Stone Temple Pilot’s “Roll Me Under” went top 20 on Active Rock.

Finally, we have the original recipe X-Factor show which spawned One Direction. Three Directioners achieve milestones this week. On Pop, we have Zayn’s “Let Me” going top 30 and Liam’s “Familiar” reaching top 40. Over on HAC, Niall Horan’s “On the Loose” goes top 20. It’s his 4th single and 4th song to go top 20 on HAC.

Amy Beth kindly pointed out that we have been missing Morgan Wallen from Season 6 from the Voice. Morgan’s “Up Down” entered the top 10 on Country this week and has a writing credit on Jason Aldean’s “You Make it Easy” at number one. Morgan started on Usher’s team, but was stolen by Adam. He was eliminated in the Playoff round. His debut album “If I Know Me” was released on April 28th.
