Six milestones to celebrate this week – including a chart topper.

It seems what the world was waiting for was a debut single from Harry Styles. “Sign of the Times” was released on Friday and quickly took to dominating the charts. It achieved number 1 on iTunes with 17 minutes and remains there today. But it isn’t just music buyers who are embracing his new song – radio programmers are too. The song debuted in the top 30 on Pop and the top 40 on HAC. In just 3 days of airplay, Harry had the biggest spincrease of the week on Pop (2257) and an AI of 20.8M.

His former fellow bandmate also saw success. Zayn recently released “Still Got Time” which also moved into the top 30 on Pop this week.

It’s like a mini-British invasion because X-Factor racks up two more milestones this week. UK winner James Arthur hits top 15 in Pop and AC with “Say You Won’t Go”. The song is top 15 in 4 formats (the 3 mainstream plus AAA).

The lone milestone immune from a British incursion this week is on Country. Season 10’s runner-up Lauren Alaina achieves her first airplay number 1 with “Road Less Travelled” topping the chart. For a chart that tends to be male dominated, that is quite an achievement.

Fifth Harmony also returns “Work It” top the top 50 on AC (previously peaked at 34 on that chart).

Drake tops the BB200 for the third week in a row. An album hasn’t managed to dominate its first three weeks since Drake released “Views”. Drake is a streaming success story so that number one constitutes not many sales, but lots of streams. Kodak Black, Mastodon and MerryMe debut in the top 10.
