Monday Morning Mediabase 02/26/2018

There are seven milestones to highlight this last Monday Morning in February.

As Scotty McCreery announced yesterday, his “Five More Minutes” has become the number one song on Country radio this week. “Five More Minutes is the debut single from his upcoming album “Seasons Change”. Considering this song was released without a label and in May of 2017, this is pretty remarkable. “Five More Minutes” became the first song to chart on Mediabase’s top 50 chart without label support. In August, Scotty signed up with Triple Tigers and the song continued to percolate. It’s hard for an older song to reach number one because older adapters tend to move on eroding spins while the newer stations are ramping up. This is Scotty’s first time topping an airplay chart. Also on Country, Survivor Chase Rice moves into the top 30 with “Three Chords and the Truth”.

Another number one to celebrate is Camila Cabello’s “Havana” going to number one on the HAC chart. “Havana” is the debut single from her “Camila” album and it has already gone to number one on he Pop and Rhythmic charts. It could have a long run at the top of the HAC chart since the nearest rising song has a lot of spins to make up. “Havana” also goes top 10 on AC this week…is it headed for number one there as well?

Two songs go top 40 on Pop this week. Niall Horan’s latest single “On the Loose” debuts on the chart this week in the top 40. The song went for adds last week and it is the fourth song he’s charted on Pop as a solo artist. Previously, “Slow Hands” (his second single) went to number one in that format and HAC.

Last week, I missed noticing that Daniel Seavey from Idol (top 9, Season 14) arrived on the Pop charts. He is part of the boy band Why Don’t We which has been gaining fans on Youtube. “Trust Fund Baby” debuted in the top 50 on Pop last week and this week, it has moved into the top 40.

Another Danny from Idol had a milestone to celebrate this week as well. Danny Gokey’s “Masterpiece” goes top 30 on CAC this week. His fellow Season 8 contestant Jasmine Murray also achieves a milestone on CAC. Her “No Other Love” goes top 40 in the format.

The “Black Panther” soundtrack tops the BB200 for a second week. “The Greatest Showman” soundtrack featuring Voice contestant Loren Allred spends another week at number 3.
