Pop star and former The Voice coach Miley Cyrus made a surprise appearance Monday night on the MTV Video Music Awards which took place at the Prudential Center in New Jersey.
Miley performed the emotional “Slide Away” in the wake of her split with husband Liam Hemsworth. The whole thing, shot in black and white featured lyrics: “Move on, we’re not 17/I’m not who I used to be/You say that everything changed/You’re right, we’re grown now.”

It’s a world of difference from when a young Miley twerked and grinded on the VMAs stage with Robin Thicke back in 2013. “We’re grown now” indeed.
