  1. Oh how fabulous! Melinda Doolittle is hands down the best vocalist to ever grace the AI stage. I really wish she’d be doing that show here in Los Angeles. I would definitely get tickets to see her in this.

  2. fingers crossed that melinda has much success in this venture. i like jordin, still like her, but melinda was the best vocalist on the show that season, hands down. maybe even arguably one of the finer female voices the show has had. i hope she finds her niche in the industry – her voice is too good to go unrecognized.

Hear, hear. I am glad for the many opportunities she has had, but she definitely deserves more recognition.

I couldn’t agree more. I’d love for some great standards singer to find Melinda and take her under his/her wing and give her some showcases on tour. If she could build a following that way it could lead to more music from her.

  5. Good to hear that she’s getting works and that more audiences will hear her. But what I want is more and better gigs for Melinda! Hope this leads to some more opportunities.

  6. I was in Pigeon Forge last weekend. They are really advertising her role in this. They mention it iin the commercial and her face is huge on their electronic sign! This is a nice theatre(had my HOSA ceremonies there)!

  7. Joseph is one of my favorite Lloyd-Webber/Rice musicals and the role of the narrator is an awesome one. Melinda will be great ! I hope somehow this turns into a touring company; would love to see her.

  8. Yea, really really awesome show, and a great part…cool gig for Melinda…!

  9. I just want to say that I had the good luck to see Melinda when she was in NYC a few months ago singing at Feinstein’s (a famous supper club) and she was AMAZING! Anywhere you can see her, in any venue, do it. The girl can sang.

  10. Yes…I am so happy for Melinda! And gotta agree…she may have the most amazing voice of any of the Idols. Love her.

  11. I agree, gg. I love Jordin as a person and enjoy her as a singer, but Melinda was the outstanding talent of her season. For me, she is certainly one of the top 5 or so best vocalists the show has ever produced. I wish her much success.

  12. Melinda of the divine voice. She actually gave me chills and I would
hold my breath during parts of her vocals during Idol. I absolutely agree that she was the best female voice and performer during
season 6. I felt TPTB could have given her a record deal but didn’t?
want competition for younger pretty and also talented Jordin.
Of course, ultimately the voters are responsible for her struggle!
Jordin has done reasonably well, but has probably not met TPTB hopes.
I’m so glad for belinda that she finally got out her Album. I wish she
had more promotion but I get that the really big bucks are not in her
corner. She may be one of those singers that have a smaller more elitist core fan group. I wish her success!

  13. There is no doubt that Melinda was the best female singer in Season 6. I don’t recall her messing up any song.

I’d love for some great standards singer to find Melinda and take her under his/her wing and give her some showcases on tour. If she could build a following that way it could lead to more music from her.

Barry Manilow is back in Las Vegas and I would love to see Melinda open for him as his theme is the Greatest Love Songs. Wishing her much success with this production.

  14. I agree with all of you Melinda will always be the winner of season 6 in my eyes. No offense to Jordin, but not everyday you can find a someone as talented and as different as Melinda. While I do like Jordin as a person she was exactly what the show wanted someone who has been groomed bubbly cutesy contestant that knows exactly waht to say what to sing and everything else. Melinda was that fighting contestant that took more chances and worked harder than anyone else not to mention her voice is amazing. I remember during the season ppl were debating about Blake/Jordin being in the finals over Melinda because they were younger and more marketable than Melinda but looking at it now are either of them actually them that successful. Jordin has done fine since winning but honelty she has a very limited fanbase and that can only go so far, she has to take more risks with her music if she wants to reach a bigger audience. They really should’ve offered Melinda a record deal and it’s too bad the record she did put out the show didn’t even try to help with that in anyway. I just hope Melinda becomes a huge star one day because she really deserves it, the true winner of American Idol Season 6.

  15. I’d love it if she was part of a production with Anthony Fedorov. He’s been playing Joseph in Seattle.

  16. Ahhhh. I just loved Melinda on the show and was dejected when she was voted off. I would love to see her show in person. Perhaps it might come to Branson or even Little Rock.

All the best to you and your career, Melinda! You deserve good things to happen to you!

  17. Me-frickin-Linda. Seriously, she is probably THE best vocalist who graced the Idol stage, I LOVED her so much, I was so angry when she got voted off. I WOULD go back in time and vote for her, although it might cause some weird paradox where Kris doesn’t get as far as he did and that just won’t do for me >_>. But if it didn’t change things, she’d be my second favorite Idol winner :P. Probably in my top 5 favorite Idol contestants of all time, but the WGWG thing keeps hitting me. Now I’m trying to think of my real top 5 contestants to see if she’s really there >_>.

I’m a little disappointed because I’m not the biggest fan of musicals and she only has one album out, but I’d go see this to show her some support, and it could change my opinion of musicals. I hope her the best!

  18. This is exciting news! The role of the Narrator is huge, and requires GREAT vocal prowess. Congrats Melinda!!!!
