After Melanie Brown aka Mel B. returned to the X Factor panel for Sunday’s finale, after missing Saturday’s performance final due to a “mystery illness,” that put her in the hospital, her fans went into overdrive, speculating that visible bruises on her body may have come from an assault from her husband.
This morning, Mel’s husband, Stephen Belafonte, took to twitter to slam the physical abuse rumors:
Idon’t usually respond to Twitter msgs but I will respond to comments of hitting my wife which I think are quite disgusting un true!

The former Spice Girl and America’s Got Talent judge was rushed to the hospital Thursday night, forcing her to miss Friday’s press conference. Former judge Tulisa Contostavlos stepped in to replace Mel on the panel for Saturday’s show. Sadly, the judge wasn’t there to comfort her team member (Mel coached the boys), Andrea Faustini, as he was eliminated from the competition.
Almost all the way up to Sunday’s airtime, rumors indicated Mel would miss Sunday’s show as well, but she appeared, looking wobbly, and with visible bruises on her arms and cheek. When fans noticed she wasn’t wearing her wedding ring, social media exploded with rumors that her husband had something to do with landing her in the hospital.
Melanie has yet to comment on the matter.
