Some of you may remember Joey + Rory from the first season of the CMT reality competition, Can You Duet, in which the duo finished in third place. After the show, the couple signed a record deal, and had a few hits on the country charts. But life has thrown a massive curveball at the the singers, who are also married with a young child.

Earlier this year, Joey stopped chemotherapy treatments for stage 4 breast cancer and entered hospice care at home. The couple now spend time together, along with their nearly two year old daughter. Taking life one day at a time, Rory has been chronicling their lives via a blog and Facebook. Joey hopes to be able to celebrate the her daughter’s 2nd birthday, which is coming up early next year.

Some of the cast and crew from Can You Duet, got together to send a musical greeting to the couple. In a recent Facebook post, Rory reflected on the show that changed their lives:

In January, it will be 8 years since Joey and I auditioned for, and appeared on CMT’s “Can You Duet”. We had no idea at the time how much it would change our lives. What a wonderful blessing. Almost as wonderful as the special video Christmas card we received last night from some of the cast and crew members who got together to brighten my wife’s Christmas. It truly did! Thank you my friends. Merry Christmas.

Cast and crew members from both 2008 and 2009 seasons came together to perform “It Must Be Christmas” for the couple. Among the well wishers: Meghan Linsey who won Season 2 as part of the Steel Magnolia duo. She went on to place second on The Voice season 8.  Sixwire, a band that competed on Nigel Lythgoe’s The Next Great American Band competition, and also served as the Can You Duet houseband. Also, Canadian duo, Brad and Marylynne Stella, parents to Lennon and Maisy who play Maddie and Daphne on the ABC musical drama, Nashville.  Maisy came along for the shoot.

After the rockin’ performance, each of the participants left lovely holiday messages for the couple.
