The Voice 7 runner-up, Matt McAndrew, recently, dropped by Yahoo Music to chat and play a few tunes. The newly-signed Republic Records artist has just released his new single “Counting on Love.” The rendition he sang on The Voice a couple of weeks ago was decidedly electric, with James Valentine from Maroon 5 accompanying him on guitar. If you liked that–and even if you didn’t–check out the acoustic version here. It’s pretty great. He also performed his coronation single, “Wasted Love.”
The singer also talked new music, writing sessions, and more in a sit down interview. He’s been writing with Gregg Wattenberg and Dave Katz. He describes how he morphed into a singer from a musician and songwriter. The 24 year old was going to quit the business if he didn’t make it by 25. He was scouted by The Voice via some stuff he put up on Reverbnation. Matt is living in Los Angeles at the moment. His next goal is to sell a million records! If he could do that–he’d love to be a spokesperson for the show that launched his career.
