Lisa Marie Presley, Daughter of Elvis Dead at 54

Lisa Marie Presley, a singer-songwriter and Elvis’ only daughter died Thursday after being hospitalized for a medical emergency, reportedly cardiac arrest. She was 54.

Lisa was rushed to the hospital after her housekeeper found her unresponsive at her Calabasas home. Her ex-husband, Danny Keough, was there and performed CPR on her until paramedics arrived and took over. Reportely, they administered at least one dose of epinephrine during resuscitation efforts.

Her mother, Priscilla, confirmed her death a few hours later.

“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” Priscilla Presley said in a statement. “She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.”

A singer, just like her father

Presley released a rock album in the 2000s and appeared on stage with Pat Benatar and Richard Hawley among others. At one point she joined her father for a posthumous virtual duets on such classic Elvis hits as “In the Ghetto” and “Don’t Cry Daddy.”

“It’s been all my life,” she told The Associated Press in 2012, speaking of her father’s influence. “It’s not something that I now listen to and it’s different. Although I might listen closer. I remain consistent on the fact that I’ve always been an admirer. He’s always influenced me.”

She was at the Golden Globes on Tuesday, where Austin Butler was nominated and won an award for playing Elvis in the Baz Luhrmann biopic. Austin thanked the Presley family as he accepted his award. Just days before she was at Graceland, the Memphis mansion where Elvis lived and died, to celebrate her father’s birthday.

Elvis Presley died in August 1977, when he was 42, and she 9 years old. Her four husbands included Michael Jackson and Nicolas Cage. She had two children, actor Riley Keough, born in 1989, and Benjamin Keough, born in 1992, with Keough. Her son died by suicide in 2020 at 27.

She also had twin daughters, Harper and Finley Lockwood, with ex-husband Michael Lockwood in 2008. At the time of her death, Presley was still battling with Lockwood over child custody issues. Her ex-husband was seeking more child support from her.

Lisa Marie Presley sold Elvis Presley Enterprises to American Idol’s parent company in 2005

Presley became the sole heir of the Elvis Presley Trust after her father died. Along with Elvis Presley Enterprises, the trust managed Graceland and other assets until she sold her majority interest in 2005 to 19 Entertainment aka Core Media, which was run by American Idol creator, Simon Fuller. However, when Core went bankrupt in 2016, her stock in the public company plummeted. She claimed that the Trust was left with a mere $14k in cash after Core went bankrupt.

Lisa appeared on American Idol season 11 on the top 3 results show in 2012. She performed her single “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet,” in a sultry, slinky alto.

On Tuesday (Jan10) Presley conducted interviews on the Golden Globes red carpet. She spoke with Access Hollywood about Butler, complimenting both his character and acting skills. She predicted a huge career for him.
