  1. I really enjoyed the video. It’s a feel good song, I like it. He has really pretty eyes. lol

  2. thanks for putting this up mj! this is really exciting for lee, more exposure for the single and the album. the video just makes me smile, soo adorable! also enjoyed the interview, i like smiley lee. this guy has a good head on his shoulders and he is just all for getting new experiences and moving forward with his music. no frills, no drama.

  3. Sorry- I like the song but do not like the video at all. I don’t think it enhances the song at all. I find the split screen distracting. This is lees debut video and the focus should be on him. Also this is a light happy poppy bouncy song yet lee does not appear light happy bouncy or smiley in the video. I kept thinking to myself ” smile lee! Get bouncy! Look happy!”. But his face was mostly just blank.

  4. He smiles several times in the video and for Lee this is bouncy! I thought he did a great job!

  5. He’s getting better and better with the interview process. The video is sweet like the song. Is he on the whole two hours? I’m recording it so just wondering if that’s the only time we see him.

  6. Is he on the whole two hours? I’m recording it so just wondering if that’s the only time we see him.

No, he is just on for his segment.

  7. The song sounds happy and bouncy but you really think about lyrics, It’s not just rainbows and puppies ironically. I don’t think he needs to smile and bouncy all the time like an idiot because the song is light tune. I think he expressed just fine what the song is really about.

  8. I just watched Lee and Sweet Serendipity on TV-the video looks great on the big screen-like a short romantic movie; it really fits the vibe of the song. Lee and Jonna look adorable together. I think Lee did a great job acting in the video, as the sensitive, hopeful guy-the story doesn’t call for a lot of smiling and bouncing around, though the song is optimistic and upbeat. He sure looks happy at the end.

  9. erm, i fear that if lee became more smiley and bouncy in this video, he’d appear crazed or manic, lol! i like that he seemed natural, looked happy singing his song in his first music video, with just the right amount of bounce(?). this video is so lee, it makes me smile as well. those baby blues are real pretty to behold ;)

  10. The line above about “puppies and rainbows” makes me think it’s a pity that this wasn’t Lee’s coronation song. It is bouncy and happy and suits Lee a lot better than “Beautiful Day” did.

  11. I would have been just as happy to see Lee and the band play SS with that really great lighting behind them….sort of a sunny yellow :) the bonus was watching Lee and Jonna find each other in the end. Since I’ve been watching MV’s many years I think this one fits the music just fine…there was certainly a varied mix of genre’s and videos in the countdown!

  12. The video looked really nice on my TV. The colors popped and the performance shots from Lee were very well done, he connected with the camera nicely. The interview was fun and good too. I will have to get voting to see it on my TV again!

  13. Lee does a great interview, as usual! He is always so genuine and polite. It must be so tiresome for him to answer the same questions over and over again, but he handles himself well and never seems impatient.
I love the video! It really tells a story and has good progression. It’s sweet and romantic, just right for the song. I don’t think “bouncy” would have fit the video at all and the smiling is appropriately saved for when he finally meets up with the girl. I loved it!

  14. Cute video. Cute story. Cute girl. Lee – hot! Band – hot! Good song. Nice interview. Guess that sums it up – I liked it!

  15. VH1 has added SS to the playlist — Medium rotation — that is the lowest rotation, but in the rotation is better than “ON” or “YOU OUTTA KNOW”.

  16. Catchy song. Meh video.

For some reason it screams TV commercial to me. I think it’s the voice recognition song selection that definitely reminds me of an actual (or AI?) Ford commercial. Then walking through shopping/malls, down the street? Don’t get me wrong, it would be a good commercial. I’m just not sure that’s the impression he was (or should have been) going for with his first music video.

  17. Has he been eating furniture? He’s gained ten pounds since the season ended. It’s….noticeable.

  18. I think that Lee looks amazing, his hair looks great, he has the most beautiful blue eyes. Interesting that no one picks on Crystal for her weight issues, but continue to focus on Lee.

  19. It is funny how those who voted for Lee were told they did so only based on his looks yet they are not the ones commenting on his looks now. It really is irrelevant.

  20. The weight gain is shocking from the end of AI to now. If Crystal had put on that much weight, you know people would mention it! I think she’s actually lost a little.

Sorry, don’t see the cuteness in Lee. He’s a short, shlubby guy in my eyes. YMMV, of course.

  21. Sigh. Lee has a round face and a tendency to dress in layers. Last Sunday at the Giants game he posted this twitvid of himself in a T shirt, looking quit slim, so here it is yet again, for anyone concerned about him.

  22. Lee looks great, the video is cute. I don’t think Lee directed the video, he just followed the script. He did great, I liked the band playing. It was cute seeing his brother in it. He’s solidly built, and the layers add bulk, in Tshirt he’s slim hipped with wide shoulders. I don’t listen to his mirror, I listen to his voice, which is my cuppa tea. :)

  23. I think Lee looks great in this video, it shows off those gorgeous blue eyes and great hair. I love the smile he gives Jonna at the end when he gives her the letters. It’s so natural and charming! He looked great during the VH1 interview too – lots of smiles! :D

  24. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think Lee is very cute. I don’t see any weight gain or weight issues at all. Crystal obviously doesn’t dress to flatter her figure so its interesting that Lee gets picked on for what he wears and his weight.

  25. What does Lee’s weight have to do with Crystal? Is there a contest? Research? Are they eating the same food and measuring who gains or loses how much?

Lee has always looked chunky and Crystal has never appeared too thin. Good for both of them for not going the anorexia route. I hope discussions like these don’t push them that way, if they see them!

  26. I think Crystal is one nice looking lady who is a nice, normal size. Never have cared for skinny ditsy ladies.

  27. The weight gain is shocking from the end of AI to now. If Crystal had put on that much weight, you know people would mention it! I think she’s actually lost a little.

Sorry, don’t see the cuteness in Lee. He’s a short, shlubby guy in my eyes. YMMV, of course.

I agree. And Lee’s weight gain is very noticeable. It’s very obvious in the video. It makes him even look shorter and older for his age. And I disagree it’s because he is wearing more clothing. His face is lot heavier than it was when he was Idol.

  28. Look at the Giants video above at 5:53. He does not look like he gained weight.

  29. Lee is just the right size. He likes to wear layers. Love him in the music video. He looks cute and adorable. He’s getting good at interviews.

  30. The video is gorgeous to look at-all the different scenes around LA, the flowering trees in the park, the golden light pouring through the glass onto Lee and the band, the adorable Jonna Walsh-I want to see the whole movie!

  31. YIKES! Why does the weight issue keep coming up???
If he looks fat to some, so be it.
I couldn’t agree more to what Kvwicks said “beauty is in the eyes of the beholder”. And in my eyes, he looks just fine.

To me, it’s really all about Lee’s voice and his passion and love of music. Period!

Anyways, back on topic, I was able to catch Lee @VH1 this morning on my TV and he did great.
For once, the interviewer asked different questions and Lee handled it well .
Also helps that he looks very relaxed.

Thanks MJ for posting it , I knew I’ll be able to watch it again here in your site :)

  32. I have been incommunicado for 3 days because of a trip with no Internet access and had to come over here tonight for my Lee fix. BF is hot, extra pounds or not, and Crystal is one good looking gal as well. Can we bury the weight conversation?

  33. since we don’t have VH1, it’s good to have a go-to place for lee videos like this. some of the questions have been asked a lot but he just answers them like it was the first time, his face just lights up talking about his music. love him! SS video still puts a smile on my face despite repeated (don’t wanna admit how many) viewings. it’s just gives off feel-good vibes.

YIKES! Why does the weight issue keep coming up???

guess, not only the lee fans like us are obsessed with him, huh? ;)lol!! well, if it means that they keep watching the vids (in, ahem, order to really see if there are any physical changes) then, they’d still be views for lee. a friend recently asked why i was spending so much to see an aging band whom i loved back in high school. the answer is simple, i love them for their songs, their voice, their passion for music.. and boy was i happy, they did not disappoint. the great thing with lee is, for me, i love the entire package and surely i’ll be a fan for life :)

  34. He does look like he gained weight but he still looks great :) Hard to go wrong with those eyes. Plus there’s more of him to go around this way.

  35. It is funny how those who voted for Lee were told they did so only based on his looks yet they are not the ones commenting on his looks now. It really is irrelevant.

I’ll always believe that his looks is the main reason why they voted for him. Just because they’re not commenting on them here doesn’t mean it’s not true.

  36. N, I’m glad you’ve clarified the content of your posts. Good to know. Lol

  37. I think “drivel” is a very polite way to describe that video. I would go for a stronger term…it plays like a few marketing executives met at a Starbucks and spent 20 mins on the concept. They stole the whole thing from the movie Serendipity, and the payoff at the end isn’t even that interesting, IMO.

So yeah, drivel is very very charitable. :)

  38. I see no problem with the video following the movie. I actually liked the movie Serendipity. I think the video fits the song!

  39. I think the video fits the song!

Yep yep! I think it’s a sweet, fun movie for a sweet, fun song. But it makes sense if you don’t like the song, you won’t like the movie. Luckily, people vote for the videos they like on the VH1 top 20 countdown, and not against the movies they don’t like.

  40. Right, and we all know that music videos are supposed to be Oscar worthy material with deep, complex themes! What were they thinking? Imagine putting out a music video that’s charming and romantic, it’s shameful, I tell you, shameful!! A better concept would have been something more serious, like maybe a train wreck or a war scene. You know, something with some blood and guts, death and a lot of crying! It’s too bad Tolstoy, Dostoyevsky, and Chechov are all dead! They could have made a great music video! JMHO :)

No, a better concept would have been something even vaguely interesting or passingly original. But clearly not going to happen in DewyzeLand. There’s so much laziness connected with his album and his video and his appearances. There’s no life there. It’s like everyone is just going through the motions, and the video is a reflection of that. JMHO, of course.

  42. Guy just can’t get anything right can he? Video is good. Sweet and simple like him. Most people liked it. Fans are proud of him. He’s worked hard. That’s all that matters.

  43. songsungblue, your perceptions may be linked to the nature of the roll-out of LIU. I really know nothing about where $$ goes for these things, but my impression was that RCA was giving LIU a modest/frugal roll-out. I’d imagine expectations for this album were VASTLY different that for FYE, and lower than for Kris Allen’s debut. I’ve said this before, but I’m not sure what really would have been gained by blowing the budget on the roll-out, when the fact is that Lee has to build a fanbase outside of idol. And I don’t think that would have been accomplished by landing in the #10-15, rather than 15-20 spot on the BB200 his debut week. All that being said, I wonder if RCA and 19 underestimated Lee’s fanbase, since the album made a pretty good showing on itunes since its debut.

And again, I think the video is a good fit for the song. If you don’t like the song, that’s fine. But I think it does the job and looks cute, rather than cheap. Could it have been more innovative? Sure. Does it matter? I would watch the video for Hey Soul Sister than take a look at its quadruple platinum status.

  44. I finally got to watch Lee’s video! Very tastefully done. No women had to demean themselves and no violence or simulated sex acts!

Frankly, while I adore Lee, I find this video just like all the typical AI videos…. there hasn’t been one video from an Idol that I would class as top notch or cutting edge, so Lee’s fits in with all the other debut videos. Cute, family friendly and non offensive. Just like American Idol wants them to be. Is that a terrible thing? Absolutely not. I think the winner is held to a certain higher standard and they know it and work with it. I admire Lee for staying family friendly at this point in his career.
