Lauren Spencer-Smith Cancels Tonight Show, NYC Concert Due to Illness

American Idol alum Lauren Spencer-Smith has some good and bad news to share. First, the bad news.

The Canadian singer-songwriter has to cancel her concerts this week in New York and Toronto as she battles sinus and ear infections. Unfortunately her schedule this week also included an appearance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday (June 29). Lauren promises all three dates will be rescheduled.

“Hi. I’m so sorry for this bad news but I have been under the weather fighting my ear and sinus infection, and was hoping i’d be able to get healthy for the shows this week, But I woke up feeling so much worse this morning,” Lauren wrote in an Instagram post.

“…we unfortunately are going to have to postpone the NY and Toronto shows plus Fallon to another date. New rescheduled dates will be announced as soon as we have them!!!!!! We will make sure se do the shows and come back I promise I will see you all soon. I’m so sorry. I love y’all.”

Lauren has been sick for months

Last week, Lauren shared with her followers that she just learned that she had the infections for months with no pain or symptoms. “I’m on medication, so I’ll be fine,” she wrote alongside a clip.

The good news: Lauren signs a new publishing and management deal

Now, for the good news. Variety reports that Lauren has signed a deal with both Warner Chappell Music publishing and Shawn Mendes manager Andrew Gertler’s AG Artists in partnership with Ziggy Chareton.

Lauren broke out big after her viral Tik Tok song “Fingers Crossed” amassed millions of views.The record labels came knocking, and Lauren signed with Island-Republic earlier this year via her imprint Three Name Productions. Laure’s current single is “Flowers.”

During the spring she parted ways with former manager David Ehrlich.

Lauren’s initial fame came after video posted to Facebook of her singing Lady Gaga’s “Remember Us This Way” from A Star is Born, sung in her father’s truck went viral. Shortly after, American Idol reached out to her and she auditioned for the show in 2020. Lauren left the competition after the Top 20. 

Currently, Lauren is working on her debut full length album.
