Lauren Alaina Shares Health Update After COVID-19 Diagnosis

Lauren Alaina shares an update on her health after announcing last week that she tested positive for COVID-19.

The American Idol season 10 alum told People magazine that she’s feeling much better after experiencing mild COVID symptoms.

“I was pretty sick,” she said “But I’m doing better now. I’ve just been at my house quarantining with my puppy.”

Lauren said that her symptoms didn’t develop past shortness of breath and “a horrible headache,” but the experience was upsetting, nevertheless.

“I was so frustrated when I got it, because I have taken it so seriously, and I went over a year and didn’t get it, and then I got it,” she said. “I rarely even go to the grocery store, but it’s a very contagious virus and I picked it up somewhere.”

Lauren told People that she’s “feeling healthy” while “staying super hydrated.” Hope she’s stocking up on Gatorade! “I miss people, but I’m getting through it,” she said. After the positive test, the singer was forced to cancel a concert appearance.

Ironically, Lauren was just days away from getting her COVID vaccination.

“I was going to get it, because I didn’t want to get the virus. But I got it,” she said. “I don’t know. It’s different for everyone. I just want my life back, and it felt like a way for me to get one step closer to that.”

Lauren can’t wait to do live shows again. But what she’s looking forward to most after the pandemic is over is seeing her grandfather again.

“He’s in a nursing home with progressed Alzheimer’s,” she said. “We’re not sure how much longer we have with him so I just want to go see my papa.”
