Lauren Alaina enlists pals Blake Shelton, Kane Brown to join her “Thicc as Thieves” dance

Last week, American Idol and Dancing with the Stars alum, Grand Ole Opry member Lauren Alaina dropped Unlocked, her first EP on Big Loud Records.

After releasing two tracks from the set, she has been promoting her duet with country star Lainey Wilson, “Thicc as Thieves.” The song, which lists American Idol judge Luke Bryan as a co-writer, finds the singers celebrating their “assets.”

To promote the song, Lauren asked a few friends to perform the “Thicc as Thieves” dance with her. First she and Lainey gave it a go. “Celebrating #thiccthursday today with all my peaches out there!” Lauren wrote on Instagram.

Next, she enlisted “What Ifs” duet partner Kane Brown. They’ve been friends since middle school. “This guy has had my back since we were kids,” Lauren wrote. “I can’t believe I got him to do this. Love you, @kanebrown !”

And most hilariously. Lauren managed to convince Blake Shelton, formerly a The Voice coach, to shake his butt with her. Lauren wrote on Instagram, “Me: Hey Blake, will you do my Thicc As Thieves dance with me??? Blake: No Me: Sure be cool if you did…..” Blake posted the clip on his own Instagram page writing, “Can’t believe I got talked into this @laurenalaina… Congrats on the new song buddy!!!! Y’all go listen!!!!”

Luke Bryan flattered that Lauren sampled his song

Luke Bryan didn’t actually co-write “Thicc as Thieves.” Lauren sampled his song “Country Girls.” She told Taste of Country that Luke gave his blessing before the song came out. The singer has toured with both Blake and Luke in the past, which is why the two superstars have been encouraging and supporting Lauren’s new musical endeavors.

“I love it. I was very flattered,” Luke shared with Taste of Country about Lauren sampling his song. He spoke with the outlet backstage at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium (June 11), before he took the stage for his CMA Fest set.

“When you look at Lainey…I mean, I think Lainey is just so great for country music,” he continued. “And I’ve been a fan of Lauren Alaina. She has one of the best voices in the world.”

“I’m so proud to have Unlocked out in the world today,” Lauren said of the six song set in a press statement. “Five years ago, I don’t know that I would’ve cut any of these songs; it took slowing down, getting to know myself, digging deep in the writing room, and living some life to bring me to this place with this new music. I feel like I’ve fully embraced and stepped into who I am as a woman, an artist, a songwriter, and I’m so excited for my fans to get to step into this next chapter with me.”
