Choosing Lauren as a duet partner was an easy decision for Chris.
“I love her voice and had done a couple of radio things with her and was like, ‘I want her to be on this song and she would be perfect for it,’” Chris told Taste of Country recently. “So I sent it to her manager and they immediately hit me back and said absolutely.”
“Her personality is just so infectious,” he added. “I mean, everyone in the room everyone was just having such a good time. We were all laughing and cutting up. I don’t know if that’s what you are supposed to be doing when it’s technically a breakup song, but we were really enjoying ourselves and having a great time.”
It’s the second singing show alum with whom Chris–a former Nashville Star contestant himself–has collaborated, Back in 2016, the singer had a No. 1 hit, “Think of You,” with The Voice season 3 winner Cassadee Pope.
“She’s amazing and vocally, she is so insanely talented,” Chris gushed about Lauren to Taste of Country.
