Lauren Alaina Back in the Studio After Throat Surgery

"The Best Of Me" Nashville Screening

Lauren Alaina is back in the studio after undergoing vocal cord surgery in August, according to ABC News Radio.  The singer kept the surgery under wraps until she made an appearance Thursday night at the Nashville film premiere of The Best of Me.

“I just started singing again, and I can still do that, so that’s great news,” the American Idol season 10 runner-up told ABC News Radio, ” ‘Cause I was scared to death, but I’m gonna start recording here in the next couple months and try to get everything out.”

Lauren revealed that after the surgery, she had to remain completely silent for a full 8 days.  “Eight days after that I could talk for five-minutes a day, which, you might as well just not talk at that point. I mean, what are you going to say in five minutes? Have you met me?”

We have Lauren! Congratulations on your disciplined recovery! Heh.

The singer was told that if she didn’t have the surgery, it would lead to further vocal problems–likely causing her to cancel tour dates while out on the road.

She says, “I had to do it. There was really no other choice for me.”

On her progress since she was a 16 year old American Idol contestant, Lauren said, “I’ve grown up a lot and learned a lot about myself.”
