American Idol alums Kris Allen and Haley Reinhart join forces for an emotional cover of ‘Thunderclouds’
Two fan-favorite American Idol alums have joined forces! Season 8 winner Kris Allen and Season 10 3rd place finisher Haley Reinhart have recorded a lovely, delicate cover of the 2018 track “Thunderclouds.”
“When I decided to record ‘Thunderclouds,'” Kris wrote in a message to fans, “I only had 1 person in my head that I wanted to sing it with. There was no option 2. That’s why I’m happy Haley said yes,” Kris continued, “I am a huge fan of her and she makes this song more beautiful, haunting, and emotional than I ever could have imagined it was going to be.”
Kris writes, “‘Thunderclouds’ is out today and I think you’ll really enjoy it. It’s a great song by LSD (Labrinth, Sia, & Diplo) that we broke down to its bare bones, vocals and acoustic, and tried to capture the raw emotion of the lyrics.”
Haley took to social media to write, “When @kris_allen approached me to do this #lsd cover, I heard the first few chords ring out & I was IN. I hope you all fall into this moody lil’ storm of emotions with us & play it over n over again!”

Haley’s platinum selling cover of “I Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley just hit 400 million streams on Spotify! “Grateful to your precious ears for listening and sharing your stories connected to my version of this classic love song,” Haley wrote on Instagram.
Kris recently dropped an acoustic cover of “I’m a Believer.” (Listen to it HERE). The song was written by Neil Diamond by made a massive hit by The Monkees in the late 60s. He’s playing a free concert in Bentonville, Arkansas, his home state on September 1.
