Kicking off a week of promo for her 6th studio album, Piece by Piece, out March 3, Kelly Clarkson appears on CBS Sunday Morning to talk about her career, winning American Idol, and her new role as wife and mother. She also discusses her tumultuous childhood and how money issues and divorce colored her attitudes about relationships.

My favorite quote from the interview was Kelly talking about the incessant tabloid and media attention she’s endured since becoming a celebrity, and how she’s learned to deal with it.

“In my 20s I felt that pressure all the time. Everybody always had something to say–musically, physically, what I said disappointed…” says Kelly about tabloid attention. “Once I hit 30, I don’t know what happened, but I’m cool. If you think I should do that, that’s awesome. That’s great for you in your world. But this is what’s happening in my world. And this is what I’m rocking musically. This is what I’m rocking physically. This is what I’m rocking emotionally.”

“You can either love it,” says Kelly, “Or you don’t have to. There’s plenty of other artists out there to love and adore.”
