Update: There will be another single from Kelly’s current album, “All I Ever Wanted”. She tweeted, answering a fan’s question, “I think we’re leaning towards a song that starts with an I and ends with a U”. The bright, 60’s pop-inflected, “I Want You” fits that clue… (Fans are reminding me that “If I Can’t Have You” does too)
Kelly Clarkson hasn’t been on twitter long, but she’s learned how to use it. Why, just today, she revealed an awesome bit of news to a fan.
“Aiming for September”, tweeted Kelly when asked if she’d be releasing a single soon.
Also, she confirmed that we can expect an album out at the end of 2010, “Working on it now ….literally about to go to studio and demo out a few songs for record.”
Hooray!
Kelly recently told Billboard magazine, (Video after the jump, Kelly’s segment starts about 1 minute in) that “We have several songs already pinned for the next album. Expect an eclectic collection of songs, “the sound is going to be all over the place, ” Kelly promises.
Kelly reveals to the UK’s Daily Star that she’s writing and recording new songs, “a ton with a bunch of songwriters I haven’t written with before.”
“It’s turning out differently, like nothing I’ve released before, ” she says, ” Some of it is very 80s influenced and some of it is singer/songwriter.”
Kelly’s not looking to hook up with a big name producer, “I don’t like working with people who have worked with everyone.”
But she admits, “Sometimes I get blackmailed into doing so by my label, but I prefer collaborating with people who aren’t on the grid. I don’t want to sound exactly like other people’s records.” (Sorta like that Ryan Tedder kerfuffle?)
Kelly is such a rebel, and I love her for it! Totally looking forward to some new Kelly Clarkson…how about you?
Kelly begins a world-wide tour in Dublin Ireland, February 5.
