On Tuesday December 6, the nominees for the 59th Annual Grammy Awards were announced and some of our favorite reality stars received nods!
The list includes American Idol winners Kelly Clarkson (Best Pop Solo Performance for “Piece by Piece (Idol Version), Carrie Underwood (Best Country Solo Performance for “Church Bells”), and Fantasia (Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Sleeping with the One I Love.”)
Season 3 singer Jennifer Hudson starred in The Color Purple on Broadway last year and recorded cuts on the cast album, (Best Musical Theater Album). Additionally, Hollywood contestant Lauren Daigle was nominated (Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for “Trust in You”).
Other reality show stars receiving nominations include The Sing-Off 3 winners Pentatonix (Best Country Duo/Group Performance for Jolene with Dolly Parton) and The Voice 3 winner Cassadee Pope (Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Think of You” with Chris Young).
That’s quite a list, and as you can imagine, the nominees were all pretty excited! Here are a few of the reactions on social media made after Tuesday’s big announcement.
American Idol season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson was pretty darn excited. So many question marks and exclamation points. Ha. Adding to the crazy: Kelly found out about her nomination while being interviewed on the SiriusXM Morning Mashup about her new track on the Hamilton Mixtape.

Speaking of Kelly, she congratulated her former tour openers, Pentatonix, on their nomination with Dolly Parton for their a cappella performance of the country legend’s iconic song, “Jolene.” I bet the pop group never imagined being nominated in a country category…

The Voice season 3 winner Cassadee Pope cannot believe she’s been nominated for a Grammy. She thanks her duet partner, Chris Young, with whom she’s currently touring.

The 59th annual Grammy Awards, hosted by James Corden, will air live from L.A.’s Staples Center at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on Feb. 12, 2017.
