Kelly Clarkson Album Meaning of Life, Love So Soft, Move You VIDEOS

It’s finally here! Brand NEW music from the original American Idol, Kelly Clarkson. The first single, “Love So Soft,” already has an official music video. Plus, another song titled “Move You” is also available. Both can be downloaded along with a pre-order of the album, Meaning of Life due out October 27.

“Love So Soft” is sassy, soulful and upbeat. Check out the official music video, directed by Dave Myers, below. Fun fact: During a Q&A yesterday (posted below) Kelly shared how Myers fell ill during the shoot and directed much of it from a hospital bed.

“Move You” is a beautiful, gospel tinged ballad. Check out the audio below.

Here’s cover art for Meaning of Life, set to be released on October 27. It’s her first album with Atlantic records, which the singer signed with after her deal with 19 records/Sony expired.

Thursday afternoon (Sept 6), Kelly conducted a live Q&A on YouTube where she announced the new album, and answered fan questions.

Kelly called the new album “the greatest thing I’ve been a part of in 15 years.”  And when asked about the inspiration behind her new album, she exclaimed, “I’m free!” She added, “It’s my first album to make outside of my contract [with] Idol. I got to actually pick who I’m working with, Atlantic [her record company] and I agreed on…everything!

Kelly feels unencumbered for the first time, “I didn’t know it could be like this. I literally just cried a lot before [during her Sony contract]. It’s really fun and cool to get to experience this 15 years later.”

“It’s literally the record…I wanted to make since I was a little kid,” Kelly gushed. “Literally the musicianship is off the charts.” Kelly calls the album ” a grown-ass woman’s record.”  She worked with Greg Kurstin, Jesse Shatkin who produced half of it, Monarch, Nick Ruth, Mick Schultz and Jason Halbert.

As far as the vibe is concerned, Kelly said, “It’s very organic…It’s kind of 90s, but it’s a contemporary version of it.” She name checks her influences, “You can definitely tell that I love Aretha, Whitney, Mariah and all those greats.”  she said. But she’s not just influenced by the diva belters. “Even like [blues singer] Bonnie Raitt…there’s a little bit of every kind of soulful woman imaginable that I’m inspired by.”

Kelly will be a coach on The Voice this spring, and she accidently let slip that she’s “already pressed the button.” She tried to backtrack but…too late! It appears that she’ll make an appearance this fall during season 13.

Cool tidbit: She and fellow coach and American Idol alum Jennifer Hudson were chatting, “We were just talking about how it’s so cool to be able to…help somebody accomplish what we’ve accomplished. And to show them too…like Jennifer…you don’t even have to win to be amazing and win Oscars and have a successful career. It was really a cool thing for both of us to be a part of.”  Actually, you have to have competed on American Idol in the aughts…but I digress.

The Q&A was held at the Rainbow Room in New York City hours before the singer was set to perform new songs for the press. Variety Bureau Chief Ramin Setoodeh was there and tweeted bits of Kelly’s new songs:

I’m a Whole Lotta Woman

Everybody’s Happy is Different

Meaning of Life

Didn’t I

Also, don’t miss Kelly on the Today show Friday September 8. Reportedly, she’ll also be co-hosting and performing during the 10-11am hour.
