Portugal will be hosting the annual event for the first time after Salvador Sobral, the singer representing the country this year, won the 2017 contest. Sobral clinched Portugal’s maiden victory with a gentle, soulful ballad and a subdued, no-frills performance that broke with the contest’s tradition of glitter and gaudiness. – Read more at Billboard

An ‘American Idol’ finalist says she felt ‘forgettable’ after being voted off of the show – “American Idol” can be an incredible experience and a stepping stone for aspiring musicians, but it can also be disheartening. For “The Bold Type” actress Katie Stevens’ eighth place finish on the ninth season of the reality competition show, it left her feeling “forgettable.” The 24-year-old described how she spent three years after “American Idol” trying to figure life out, while not giving up on her aspirations. – Read more at The Insider
Jacquie Lee takes control of her sound back from the music industry – What are you here to tell us about today? I’ve spent the last year and a half developing my sound and just living life, but now the first single is finally out!!! “Am I the Only One” is the first song off the EP I’ve been working on. Mary Sarah Endures Heartache For ‘Without You’: Interview – The young star grew up in Richmond, Texas, so her roots run far and wide: She has enough pop sensibility to garner mass appeal, but she glows with the ethos of country tunes past. “I love to write, but I always like to find other writers to work with in Nashville. And faith is a big deal in this country,” Gokey said in a recent phone interview. “There’s a few voices out there that say faith is irrelevant, but it’s not irrelevant. We hold onto faith. It got us where we are today. … – Read more at WNYPapers

Hanging Out With America’s Got Talent Fave Darci Lynne – When I first met super-singing ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer last year at the Vent Haven Ventriloquism Convention, she was just an uber-talented 11-year-old kid with a pretty exciting career in her future.
