A US Magazine source claims rapper, Kanye West, turned down an opportunity to judge American Idol 13 because he was afraid he’d lose his “street cred”
A source tells Us Weekly exclusively that the hip hop star was offered the third and final spot on Idol’s judging panel for the upcoming 13th season. After thinking it over, however, he decided to pass, in part because he worried it would hurt his reputation.
“He didn’t want to go that mainstream,” the source tells Us of the “Black Skinhead” rapper, 36, who has a 2-month-old daughter, North, with Kardashian, 32. “He didn’t want to lose any street cred. So he turned it down.”
After hooking up with a Kardashian, I’m not sure why Kayne is worried about his “cred.” I mean, it’s guilt by association with that trashy family. But I guess the heart wants what it wants.
And quite frankly, after the disaster with the outspoken Nicki Minaj last season, I can’t believe Idol brass would have considered another polarizing celebrity for the job.
The source also claims that producers not only met with Will.i.am (who is apparently going back to The Voice UK instead) but also music producers Rodney Jenkins and Dr. Luke. According to US, Dr. Luke is the top choice.
